In May 2019 when Covid-19 hits Singapore badly and forced the country to go into Lock-down. American Express gave Platinum Charge cardholders a S$500 statement rebate on their essentials spending.

American Express is offering the same promotion again for your essentials spending but this time it is offering $300 statement credit instead of $500.

From now till  18 Jul 2021, members who save the offer can get up to S$300 worth of statement credits when you spend at the below retails in physical stores or online.

There is no cap on the number of cards eligible for this offer. Payment must be charged to your Card by 18 Jul 2021 to be eligible for the offer. Credit should appear on your billing statement within 5 business days from qualifying spend but may take up to 90 days from the offer end date.

Base on my personal experience, the statement credit will be shown within 5 days.

Conclusion

The annual fee for this card is $1712 and with $300 credited back for your spending, it is as good as having 18% off for paying the annual fee.

I will be topping up my NTUC gift card for the credits and will use it to get Chinese New Year goodies.
